Of course in an ideal world, your vacation will be full of sunny days. But we all know that’s not always the case. Plus, you can’t have flowers without a little rain! Although rain may seem like bad news at first, it really isn’t! Our region is full of activities you can do from the comfort of the great indoors. Let us tell you about some of our favorites!

1. Explore Local History

While the entirety of New Hampshire is steeped in history, we have two local ideas for you. 

First is a snow-themed destination open Memorial Day through the end of ski season. Even without snow on the ground, the New England Ski Museum is still a cool place to go.  

You can get to the Franconia Notch branch by taking Exit 34B of Interstate 93. There you’ll find the base of the Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway, which can take you up to the summit for some incredible views. But stay down low and visit permanent and annual exhibitions at the museum. Alternatively, you can visit the Eastern Slope branch to experience the Robert J.A. Irwin Exhibit Hall, equipment and archives, the museum store, and the Wilkinson-Greenberg Library.

The second is one focused on automobiles. Located within Kancamagus Collectibles is a special, can’t-miss car enthusiast adventure. This exciting space features antique cars you won’t see anywhere else. Supposedly, they even have a haunted car!

2. Have Some “You” Time

We all need and deserve regular self care. Luckily, our area of New Hampshire has some amazing options.

Need some alone time? You can let Kid’s Studio Play be your babysitter if your child is over three years old. Enjoy a nice meal nearby while they have the run of the bounce house. Win-win!

4. Let the Beverages Flow

It’s rare to find such a wide variety of tasting opportunities in one area, so make sure to take full advantage of the options. Seven Birches Winery offers only the finest wines, One Love Brewery provides Pilsners, amber ales, lagers, and more, Twin Barns North serves up IPAs, blonde ales, lagers, and other options, and the Woodstock Inn Brewery is a great option for rotating beers and classics like Pig’s Ear. 

Hit one or hit ‘em all. They’re all wonderful choices.

The North Country Center for the Arts at Jean’s Playhouse is a magical experience for all kinds of entertainment.
