Scenic New Hampshire – Statewide ideas on how to spend your next New Hampshire vacation. Travel Ideas, Lodging, and year-round activities for your enjoyment in New Hampshire.

Of course in an ideal world, your vacation will be full of sunny days. But we all know that’s not always the case. Plus, you can’t have flowers without a little rain! Although rain may seem like bad news at first, it really isn’t! Our region is full of activities you can do from the comfort of the great indoors. Let us tell you about some of our favorites!

1. Explore Local History

While the entirety of New Hampshire is steeped in history, we have two local ideas for you.

First is a snow-themed destination open Memorial Day through the end of ski season. Even without snow on the ground, the New England Ski Museum is still a cool place to go.

You can get to the Franconia Notch branch by taking Exit 34B of Interstate 93. There you’ll find the base of the Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway, which can take you up to the summit for some incredible views. But stay down low and visit permanent and annual exhibitions at the museum. Alternatively, you can visit the Eastern Slope branch to experience the Robert J.A. Irwin Exhibit Hall, equipment and archives, the museum store, and the Wilkinson-Greenberg Library.

The second is one focused on automobiles. Located within Kancamagus Collectibles is a special, can’t-miss car enthusiast adventure. This exciting space features antique cars you won’t see anywhere else. Supposedly, they even have a haunted car!

2. Have Some “You” Time

We all need and deserve regular self care. Luckily, our area of New Hampshire has some amazing options.

Solstice North Day Spa

Located conveniently inside the RiverWalk Resort is a gem that offers skin care, nail care, soaking options, waxing, massage, and more. And don’t worry, you don’t have to be a RiverWalk guest to take advantage of this opportunity, just walk in and enjoy.

Balanced Rock Bodyworks

Focused on providing the best in yoga, massage, and alternative therapies like Reiki, Balanced Rock Bodyworks is a prime choice for relaxation in Lincoln.

Viaggio Spa & Wellness Center at The Mountain Club on Loon

If you’ve been craving a facial or a specialty body treatment like a body lift, this is your place! They also provide massages, waxing, and both manicures and pedicures that are guaranteed to please.

3. Make the Kids Happy

When it rains, it can be hard to keep children happy indoors. Fortunately, in Lincoln, we have Kid’s Studio Play where littles from ages 2-13 can burn off that wild energy they usually use for hiking, biking, and exploring the Whites. Inside you’ll find over 20 games for maximum interactive fun.

Need some alone time? You can let Kid’s Studio Play be your babysitter if your child is over three years old. Enjoy a nice meal nearby while they have the run of the bounce house. Win-win!

4. Let the Beverages Flow

It’s rare to find such a wide variety of tasting opportunities in one area, so make sure to take full advantage of the options. Seven Birches Winery offers only the finest wines, One Love Brewery provides Pilsners, amber ales, lagers, and more, Twin Barns North serves up IPAs, blonde ales, lagers, and other options, and the Woodstock Inn Brewery is a great option for rotating beers and classics like Pig’s Ear.

Hit one or hit ‘em all. They’re all wonderful choices.

5. Hunt For Treasures

Shopping, thrifting, and antiquing have never been more accessible. The White Mountains has an enviable amount of choices where you can find the perfect souvenir or gift for just about anyone, even if that “anyone” is yourself. For example, you can check out:

6. Catch a Show

The North Country Center for the Arts at Jean’s Playhouse is a magical experience for all kinds of entertainment.

Coming up on Memorial Day weekend is the North Country Comedy Series. Shortly after that in June is StageSetter’s Youth Program’s Beware the Jabberwock. You can find their full 2024 lineup here.

Well there you have it, six ways you can enjoy your time in our area even if it’s a bit wetter than expected! And remember, if you need other ideas, you can always contact your friends at the Western White Mountains Chamber.
