Hobbs Brewing Company of Ossipee has won a bronze medal at the 2023 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) competition, held in Denver in late September. Presented by the Brewers Association, GABF is the nation’s largest commercial beer competition and recognizes the most outstanding beers produced in the United States.

Hobbs Brewing Company was recognized in the Experimental – Wood-Aged beer-style category for its Sugar Moon – Bourbon, a Maple Wee Heavy Scotch Ale brewed with New Hampshire maple syrup, candy cap mushrooms and aged in bourbon barrels. This is the fourth GABF honor for Hobbs Brewing Company, who took home Bronze in 2016 and Silver in 2017, both in the Classic Saison category for their One Arm Farmhouse Ale, and Gold for Sugar Moon – Run in the Experimental – Wood-Aged category in 2022. Hobbs was the only brewery from New Hampshire to be recognized at GABF this year.

The top three winners in the competition’s 99 beer categories covering 175 different beer styles were announced September 23 at the Great American Beer Festival awards ceremony held at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado.
