This process is best started in the years leading up to a move when you have time to think through the process without the pressure of an imminent transition. Downsizing can be a big process but is very doable when tackled in smaller steps or with the help of a professional or a trusted friend or family member. If the goal is to retire to an Independent Living community, you will want to make this move while you are still physically active and healthy.
