DESIGN SERVICES AT SUMMER HOUSE FURNISHINGS

Whether you’re looking to decorate an entire house, freshen up a particular room, or find the perfect piece of art, the design team at Summer House Furnishings is here and happy to assist with projects of all sizes!

Let’s learn about the design process (and some helpful tips!) offered by this lovely Rye, New Hampshire home boutique, and get the creativity and visions flowing!

THE DESIGN PROCESS AT SUMMER HOUSE FURNISHINGS…

The design process begins with Summer House Furnishings’ expert design team sitting down with clients to discuss needs and vision for each space. The team invests significant time to understand how clients anticipate using each space, so they can seamlessly transition homes into dream homes. Once the designers gather an abundance of information, they begin the creative design process by strategically (and beautifully) forming together room layouts, inspirational images, paint color ideas, fabric samples, and furniture options to present to clients. As a Seacoast-inspired business, the team at Summer House Furnishings likes to create timeless spaces that are fresh, comfortable, and inviting.

With client feedback, discussions, and collaboration, projects start to take shape and the visions start coming to life! From there, it’s “hello dream home!”. In addition to partnering with clients seeking design services, Summer House Furnishings’ team happily helps customers who pop into its gorgeous Rye, New Hampshire boutique with styling services!

A FEW DESIGN TIPS FROM SUMMER HOUSE FURNISHINGS…

  1. Every color looks different in every home. Test out colors in desired spaces prior to making the final decision!
  2. Vary textures and scale in every space! Start with large furniture pieces, then layer rugs, pillows, throws, decorative accessories and lighting. Each piece will add a unique color and texture which will provide interest to the space.

Visit Summer House Furnishings in person at 25 Sagamore Road in Rye, New Hampshire—the boutique is now open Monday through Friday from 10am-5pm, and Saturdays from 10am-4pm. If you would like to schedule a private shopping appointment or connect with the design team virtually, email ([email protected]) or call (603-319-1655).

A YORK, MAINE HOME BY SOMMA STUDIOS!

This week we’re enjoying a sneak peek into a sweet Cape Cod style home that was transformed by the oh-so-talented SOMMA Studios!

Hello dream home!

This house was originally purchased as a historic, untouched Cape Cod—clad in dark wood and smoky blue trim. The windows were small, which made the rooms feel even smaller, making the entire home to feel constrained.

Jen Ramsey of SOMMA Studios renovated this entire home and added a wing on the first floor for a master bedroom. One of Jen’s specialties is helping families stay in the homes they love by maximizing the space they already have in a beautiful and functional way. This is a true testament to the wonderful work of SOMMA Studios…

This home renovation was particularly special for Jen as she originally transformed it for her cousin. Awww! What a wonderful example of making small rooms feel bigger, and allowing a younger family to live longer in a space they loved calling home.

This home became the inspiration for one of Profile Homes projects, a separate company Jen Ramsey is involved in as Design Director, which builds net zero homes!

We’re loving the simplicity and neutral palettes of this space…

Thank you, Jen, for sharing your beautiful work with us!

INDOOR DINING AND TAKEOUT AT BRGR BAR PORTSMOUTH!

This month, our friends at BRGR Bar celebrate their 7th year in business!! CONGRATULATIONS!!

To celebrate this exciting milestone, we’re sharing a few things we’re currently loving at BRGR Bar this winter…

First, we MUST start by sharing our current favorite burger: The Nashville Hot. This hearty burger is made with Vermont-raised spicy fried chicken, mayo, house-made pickles, and homemade coleslaw. It’s bursting with crunchy and smooth, hot and cold, crispy and melt-in-your-mouth buttery goodness. In our minds, it’s the perfect combination.

BRGR Bar is indeed open this winter for socially-distanced indoor dining with strict CDC protocols in place. On our recent trip, we opted for a cozy night in, and enjoyed contact-free curbside pickup and dinner at home…

After enjoying a seamless curbside pickup experience, we couldn’t wait to dive in.

By the time we arrived home, the food was still hot, the milkshakes were cold, and the food was fresh and tasty, as always!

Speaking of milkshakes… What’s a trip to BRGR Bar without ordering its famous frozen beverages?? If you drink a milkshake with dinner, it’s not considered a dessert, right?? Pictured here are the popular “Nutella, Marshmallow, and Graham Cracker,” “Strawberry,” and “Vanilla” milkshakes, which are available for indoor dining and takeout. Take a peek at the beverage menu to be inspired by both the “adult” and non-alcoholic milkshake options!

While BRGR Bar is known for its burgers, its menu doesn’t stop there! With salads, creative appetizers, lentil tacos, black bean burgers, build-your-own burgers, and fries, this downtown Portsmouth eatery offers a variety of options for every diet—vegan, gluten free, vegetarian—you name it!

As a family we shared our dishes and tried some new menu items, which made for an extra special movie night at home! If you’re in the mood to keep on theme with your next movie night and BRGR Bar takeout adventure, we recommend watching the 90’s classic flick “Good Burger”!

Pictured above is BRGR Bar’s Crispy Mojo Pork Belly Tacos, made with stewed black beans and tomatoes, watercress, and chimichurri, just to whet the tastebuds…

Did you know we can also add beer and wine to our takeout orders??

AMY DUTTON HOME’S STUNNING NEW CONSTRUCTION IN PORTSMOUTH, NEW HAMPSHIRE!

At the start of this new home construction project in Portsmouth, Amy Dutton of Amy Dutton Home and her clients were faced with some challenges. After working with the city to meet coding and town ordinance requirements, they were able to hit the ground running on a stunning home that was custom designed and built from the ground up…

After saying goodbye to the original structure, building a new foundation, and seeing the final design, Amy and her clients agreed that having a dream home come to life is well worth the effort… We couldn’t agree more.

This neighborhood home features black windows on the exterior and white on the interior, an open floor concept, four bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, a butler’s pantry, bar, mudroom, and a four-car garage.

When the homeowners moved in, the basement and space over the garage were not yet finished, but those spaces are now being transformed into a playroom, gym, and home office—the trifecta of living well during this season of life!

The overall design aesthetic, selected in collaboration by Amy and her clients, is a careful blend of natural, reclaimed, and engineered materials. The color palette ranges from whites and grays, to blues and blacks, throughout the home. The mudroom floor pictured below is made of 12 x 24 porcelain slate tiles.

Each of the bathrooms in this home have an element of Carrera marble that can be found in either the countertop, wall tile, or mosaic floor. Porcelain penny rounds were used in the bathroom floors as a juxtaposition of textured wallpaper.

In addition to designing both the interiors and exteriors of this home, Amy Dutton also led the landscaping. This home sits on a sloped hill, which means they needed to mitigate water runoff. The driveway is retained by a stone wall and has porous pavers as a surface, with a rain garden on the other side, where the water runs through. In the backyard, there are beautiful gardens around the perimeter boasting beautiful hydrangea, birch trees, and perennials. Surrounding the raised patio are small evergreen plants and an outdoor fireplace.

Ahh… Sweet summertime bliss…

From the exteriors to interiors, this unique home boasts stunning features and details for modern, functional living. Once again, Amy, we are absolutely blown away…
