NH’s Winter Carnivals and Winter Festivals

There are a number of family-friendly winter carnivals and winter festivals being held in New Hampshire this winter so be sure to bundle up and hit the road for some fun.

Winter Fest Ice Carving Competition in Concord, NH

When: Friday, January 28 and Saturday, January 29, 2022

Enjoy ice-carving demonstrations and meet some of New England’s most talented ice carvers on Friday followed by an ice carving competition and Winter Fest on Saturday from 11 a.m.- 4 p.m.

19th Annual Ice and Snow Festival in Keene, NH

When: Saturday, February 5, 2022 | 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The Keene Ice and Snow Festival is held at Central Square in downtown Keene, NH. This family-friendly winter carnival includes snowball fights, ice sculpture competitions and plenty of hot cocoa sipping. This event is free to attend.

112th Dartmouth College Winter Carnival

When: February 10-13, 2022

This annual winter carnival is open to Dartmouth College residents as well as locals and visitors. Annual festivities include a snow sculpture contest, snow golf, discounts and special races as Dartmouth Skiway, a polar bear plunge and dogsled racing. This event is free to attend.

Newport, NH Winter Carnival

When: February 10-13, 2022

This year marks the 106th annual winter carnival in Newport, NH. Fun includes a fishing derby, ice hockey games, ski joring, murder mystery dinner, fireworks and more. This event is free to attend.

Squam Lakes Winterfest at Squam Lakes Association in Holderness, NH

When: Saturday, February 19, 2022

From skating, pond hockey, cross-country skiing, sledding, mini golf, to a bonfire and live animal programs with the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center, this event is not to be missed. Try one or all of the styles of chili during the Chili Contest.

Alton Bay Winter Carnival

100th Annual Nansen-Milan Winter Festival in Milan, NH

30th Annual Winter Carnival at Wasserman Park in Merrimack, NH

When: Saturday, February 26, 2022 | 12–3 p.m.

This fun-filled free day will be filled with snowman building, snow art, an ice fishing derby as well as various arts and crafts. There will be indoor and outdoor fun.

Wolfeboro Bay Winter Carnival: Winter Wonderland

When: Saturday, February 13,  2022

Events are held throughout Wolfeboro including Abenaki Ski Area  Pop Whalen Ice Arena  Wolfeboro Inn and include a big air competition, free ice skating, snowshoeing workshop, sleigh rides, animal tracking, primitive fire building, inflatable obstacle course competition, pancake breakfast as well as ski and snowboard races.
